Born in 1937 in Potenza, Basilicata. After studying architecture in Rome, he started to design the corporate communications of the Italian Republican Party, dedicating himself to this task from 1962 to 1995. From 1974 to 1995, he also worked as an art director at Treccani, the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia. During his career, he served other major companies including Confindustria, Innocenti, Maserati, and RAI. He taught packaging, corporate identity, and communication design at ISIA (High School for Artistic Industries) in both Rome and Urbino, La Sapienza University of Rome, the North Carolina State University, and other institutions both in Italy and abroad. He also published numerous books about his work and lessons in graphic design.
