Notes
Design of a monograph issued by Rinascente to celebrate the work of Marcel Breuer on the occasion of the assignment of the Compasso d’Oro Award in 1955. Published by Görlich, Milan. Printed by Stabilimento Poligrafico G. Colombi. The cover features a series of color overprints generating a visually exciting layout and recalling the constructivist aesthetics typical to the Bauhaus. The color red, which in typography is considered as the second color par excellence after black, is here enhanced by blue, which is the third color par excellence. The graphic scheme is very similar to those introduced in the early 1950s by Swiss designer Richard Paul Lohse.
