Title
Triennale

Designer
Guido Modiano

Firm
G. Modiano & Co.

Year
1933

Client
Fonderia Reggiani

Medium
Typeface

Notes
Modiano drawn this typeface in 1933 as a tribute to the Milan Triennale. The same year Paul Renner’s Futura was introduced to Italy at the 5th Triennale exhibition and soon became Italian Rationalist architects’s favourite typeface. Triennale, released in two weights, perfectly expresses the typical character of Italian typefaces from the 1930s—that were widely used in Fascist architecture and representative of the official Fascist aesthetics—showing both a strong rational attitude but also a sort of decorative geometric stylization that was typical to Art Deco.
