Founded in 1965 by Massimo Vignelli, Bob Noorda and four American partners. It was the first design consultancy with offices worldwide. It soon became one of the best and largest design firms in the world, serving prestigious clients such as American Airlines, Ford, Knoll, La Rinascente, the New York Subway, and Pirelli. The firm was originated by Massimo Vignelli, who was Design Director and Senior-Vice President. Many Italian designers worked for Unimark including Emilio Fioravanti, Franco Gaffuri, Cristiano Sironi, Giulio Cittato, Heinz Waibl, Lella Vignelli, and Salvatore Gregorietti. In 1971 Vignelli left and by 1979 all offices closed except the one in Milan, where Noorda continued the firm until 2000 developing projects for Agip, Coop, Feltrinelli, Mondadori, Total, Touring Club, the São Paulo Metro and others.
